finding inspiration again

Some photos as of late.

I feel like the drought going on in my state - dry and bare, struggling to push my way through cracked ground.  Creativity lacking.  Inspiration gone.  I love to create new art, but without the passion, nothing makes sense.  Like bricks on my shoulders - a burden - are the questions of my future from those around me.  "What do you want to do?"  "Where do you want to go?"  I wish I could tell you, but I don't even know.

The art I love to make isn't mine anymore, and the dreams are fading.  But maybe, with reconsideration, these dreams of mine are worth so much more, worth pursuing with my very being.  Lacking in inspiration for one week is not enough to stop these dreams.  Searching for that inspiration doesn't have to be hard - in fact, it should be fun and rewarding.  Here are my tips for finding that inspiration again.

 //GET OFF THE COMPUTER
//LISTEN TO NEW MUSIC
//SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY THE LITTLE THINGS
//STEP OUTSIDE, TAKE A WALK, BREATHE DEEP
//PUT ON A NEW OUTFIT
//TALK TO YOUR GRANDPARENTS
//READ A BOOK UNDER A SHADE TREE
//GO ON AN ADVENTURE
//DO HARD THINGS
//WORK HARDER THAN BEFORE
//KEEP A JOURNAL WITH LISTS, THOUGHTS, DREAMS
//MEET NEW PEOPLE
//BE COURAGEOUS IN ALL THINGS
//TRY SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW
//REVAMP+RENEW

What do you do to find inspiration?

The design looks terrible, I know. It's only temporary.  Working (slowly) on a new one!  The new one is up!

  3. Ah yes... the struggle for inspiration. We all waited with baited breath for summer to come, wielding her inspiration filled days. And now we can't seem to find it. I am struggling with the same things, I think your list will help me =)

    Do you need new music inspiration? I'm only an email away!

  5. Nice inspiration list! I, for some odd reason, lack inspiration just about every time I get on the computer to post. (what's wrong with me?!)

    But photography ALWAYS gives me inspiration; that's why I'm a photographer. (: <3

    I have made the decision that you are a poet. Okay? Okay.

    Anyways, I hope you get your inspiration back soon! I know what it can feel like, but it always comes back eventually! :)

  8. I'm with you, girl. Love the list! I think my number one problem right now is the computer. I'm planning on trying to be off except for one day a week for a while this summer... that hasn't worked yet, but I'll try.
    I love your list!
    xx.

  10. lovely photos! and i know what you mean... some of my favorite tips are to challenge yourself, to go out of your comfort zone, and to go outside - take 200 steps and see where you end up.
    and i love this design even if it is temporary :)

  12. Yesss, I feel this way every other day, it seems. ;) For me, getting inspiration flowing takes action. I need to make something, take pictures, or draw even when I don't feel like doing it. That's the thing that makes a real artist -- someone who can persevere through the dry days and still make something beautiful.

    Olivia - I hit the same snag in Chicago as a young, wet-behind-the-ears photographer hoping to make the big time, waiting for "inspiration". My inspiration came on the day I realized I had no food, and no money to get food in the middle of a cold Chicago winter without heat in my Dearborn Street coachhouse/studio.
    You already make good photographs when/if you want to. You will consistently make great photographs only when you have to. Love, Greg

  16. IKR? When is our little drought going to end? I think maybe it sprinkled a little bit one day last week, but I never saw any rain, and it wasn't even enough to go into the ground! Everything is so dry and dead!
    Great post, Olivia!
    I hope you find inspiration again, and remember, no matter how hard it is, don't worry about your future, because no matter what happens, it's all in God's hands!
    Anyway, just image if we all knew our futures. That'd be terrible.
    I'll be praying.
