That Future

FOR TOMORROW BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE WHO PREPARE FOR IT TODAY.
There comes a point in life, I think, when the life you have been living isn't one to be satisfied with anymore.  Once a certain age or maturity is reached, it's time for the past way of life to change.  That's something I've been thinking and praying about lately.  How to change my life from a child's to an adult's; a life dependent on other adults to a one where I am the adult.  Oh sure, this doesn't happen overnight, and that's the biggest struggle.
There's so much to learn once you reach these last years of highschool, so many possibilities.  Getting a job.  Planning for college.  Strengthening your relationship with Christ.  Planning a future that will someday define me.   It's scary, really.  There's so much to do, and when combined with the everyday happenings, it can be stressful.  Sometimes, I really just want to give up and live at home forever and not have to think about it again.

But then again, think about the potential.  If you're a person who loves adventure and new experiences, planning for the future should be fun.  Isn't life like that?  An adventure that we can change with our decisions and our actions.  God knows what the span of our life looks like, but each day is new to us, a reason to get up every morning.  I find that rather exciting...do you?

WHEN IT COMES TO THE FUTURE, THERE ARE THREE KINDS OF PEOPLE: THOSE WHO LET IT HAPPEN, THOSE WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN, AND THOSE WHO WONDER WHAT HAPPENED.  -JOHN RICHARDSON JR.

  1. Posts like these make me so sad because I know how true they are. Apparently I talk about it a lot, but growing up really is a scary thing! Sometimes I feel like giving up and living at home and working at walmart for the rest of my life if it means that I don't have to make hard decisions like I am now...

  3. Oh goodness, I know where you're at, Olivia. It's a bit of a struggle, that time where you start to define yourself as an adult. But you know what? When you think about giving up, just remember that it will all be worth it, because it is. There's so much potential, and so many things you can do with your life. It's so incredibly exciting.

  5. Yes, decisions about the future are hard. No lie. The truth is, six months ago, I would never have dreamed I would be as confident as I am about the decisions I'm making right now. I wanted to live at home forever, too!

However, I am realizing that God's timing is truly perfect. All those months of worrying finally led to the time I am in now, where decisions have to be made. And they are. They simply are made. And that's it. The answers to all my questions just suddenly appeared; and the peace that He gives through it all is beautiful.

  7. Hello! I just discovered your blog through a very roundabout sort of way (blog-hopping, you might call it) and I just thought you should know that it is one of my favorites. Ever. Period. I find it inspiring and faith-strengthening and amazing, and I want to thank you for doing it. It may seem of little consequence to you (or it may not) but it touches me in a way that's hard to describe. Keep it up. (I also found Seal of Redemption, which is amazing). Thank youthank youthankyou =)

  8. Ah. Decisions for my future scare me. I'm still on the fence about my career and crazy excited for what's coming. I just have to keep reminding myself that God's got a plan for me. To just listen to what he's asking me to do.
Whatever it is you decide to do -- I know you'll do amazing, girl!
