Hannah | Senior Photographer

She is joy.  She is laughter.
She is strong.  She is independent.
She knows who she is, and she isn't afraid to be that person.

Hannah is a great friend and model, and shooting her seniors was such a good ending to our school year.  You might recognize her from this shoot that we did last winter, but this shoot was so much better.  Hot weather, cute spring dresses, and big clear skies (three of the best things about summer!)

i am what i am

"Being real is more a process of letting go than it is the effort of becoming.  I don't really have to become myself, although at times it feels this way.  I already am what I am.  And that is both the simplest and the hardest thing for me to realize."

It's been so long since I've blogged.  Part of me misses it, but part of me is also very thankful for the break.  The quote above is something I've been contemplating the past few days.  Being real - myself - is something I always strive to be.  And so if I take a month off of blogging, then that's ok with me.  To be honest, the month of May was so busy that I hardly thought about blogging.  I've always heard that junior year was the hardest...they were right.  But, I survived, and my brain still can't fully grasp that I'm a senior.  And the rest of my time?  It's been spent working at home on the garden.  With my (amazing) class of seven, who are also some of my best friends, as we try to soak up every minute before the graduated senior of the group goes to college.  And I've been working - babysitting, Latin tutoring, photography, and maybe some other things as well.

Life is full and busy and good.  And it is moving too quickly, too.  I'm working on getting my blog redesigned, and so I'm trying not to post until then (because my lack of html knowledge means my photos don't like up correctly and that drives me crazy).  So, when I do get a new design, I'm hoping to blog some recent shoots, as well as photos of the life that has been going on around me.  I'm excited to be back!

spring days // school days // simple days
read Madeline's (delicious looking) post

All images now taken with this beauty.  After a long time of saving, waiting, and praying, I bought the Canon 5D Mk ii last week.  I have so many good things to say about it!  It's amazing!  (Also, I might have even called it my "soul mate" a few hours ago.  ;) )

the c family | indiana family photographer

I'm currently sitting in the middle of a spring snowstorm, and I've decided that those two words should not be next to each other in a sentence.  Spring needs to hurry up and get here.

While I'm dreaming of and planning for the summer, I thought I would share these photos with you.  These cuties are my cousins, and I had so much fun photographing them on the first day of December.  I've been babysitter, playmate, road trip companion, and "scary" boss to these three.  And now, photographer.  As you will see, they are full of life and laughter, and we had fun, even in the cold!

On another note, I'm gearing up for a rebrand and the start of the spring photography season - if this snow ever melts.  I'm so looking forward to it!

sister portraits in the snow

sometimes photos explain wrinkled-nose smiles better than words do.  sometimes ten minutes in the falling snow means more than "i love you", no, it means "i care about you","i want to spend time with you", and"i want to capture you the way i see you, full of life and innocence and joy."  sometimes sisters look so beautiful in the beginnings of four inches of snow that you have to let the flakes melt on your camera, have to let your hair get soaked, have to capture what you see.
