i'll never stop doing it.

i've been worrying too much about followers and comments and pageviews.  i never used to care, but lately, i've been watching my follower count closely, and wishing for more of them.  today, i asked myself why.  why am i worrying over trivial things like this?  why am i sad when i only get two or three comments on a post?  truthfully, i don't even know.  but what i do know is this:  i'm going to stop.  i'm not going to stop blogging, because i don't think i could do that.  blogging has been an amazing outlet for me to share my photography, and a comfortable place for me to write.  no.  i'm going to continue, no matter how many followers i have, no matter how many comments i get.  i'm reminding myself that it's not the comments that count, and all that stuff.  i've been truly blessed to share my thoughts with you, share my photos with you.  so i thank you for that!  even if there were only five people reading my blog, i would still write and photograph.  but, there's 167 of you.  and that's a pretty big number.  and...i wish i knew you all.  so, i'm still going to write for you, and i'm still going to photograph for you.  i don't think i'll ever stop doing that.

  2. I think that everyone goes through the "follower" faze. :) Including me. But you know what? Blogging is allot more fun if you're not worrying about how many followers you have. Remember, allot of people read posts but don't comment. :)

  3. I know what you mean about counting followers and visits. It definitely is more enjoyable when you can get yourself not so focused on that. I love these images, by the way!

  5. I'm sorry you're feeling so upset about your followers and posts and blogging and what not. I truly hope and pray that you can get over what you need to get over and start fresh and excited to blog and share you photographs. May God bless you on your journey through life and be with you where ever life takes you!

  7. Oh I have been getting discourages at lack of comments too!! Coz you feel like no one is appreciating all your effet (how come I can't spell that??), so you feel like why should you bother. But I told myself that I enjoy it so I'm gonna keep goin' :D

  8. I just lost a follower yesterday and got kinda upset. Partly because I now have an un-even number (which I can't stand!), but mostly because someone decided that my blog wasn't worth reading anymore. It sucked, but then I realized that while yes, followers are a big part of blogging, they aren't everything.

Sometimes I need to remind myself that I didn't start blogging to gain followers, I started because I wanted to keep memories alive with my writing and pictures! 64, 18, 167, or 13 000, it doesn't make a difference to me! :)

  9. hang in there, Olivia! you know there are ways to build your follower list, but do you want a bunch of followers that never read what you have to say or really look at your blog? much better, i think, to have ones that actually. . . . . FOLLOW! i love your combination of photography and writing that has substance. be encouraged this day :-) i think i sent this to you before, but i just love this perspective on why we blog: http://www.aholyexperience.com/2010/11/why-blog-being-an-upside-down-blogger-part-1/.
    have a great day!

  16. Olivia -- please don't stop blogging. You really don't know how many people love your writing and photos. Really, more people than you think read and love and cherish your photos, etc.
I know just how you feel... at a time, I was worrying about followers, (heck, I only have 66 now!), but then I realized that other bloggers who have thousands of followers were at one time just like us. Carlotta, for example, has been blogging since 2006! That means it took her 5 years to gain 1000 follwers! She persevered, kept posting good things, and her numbers rose. We can do that too, right? :)
    Much love!
